Situated within The Common Room, the 5|Quarter café bar is nestled in the heart of the historic Stephenson Quarter in central Newcastle.

Working closely with The Common Room team we developed a brand that referenced the unique heritage of the location whilst also appealing to a city centre day time and evening audience.

Following research into the mining past of the region, we proposed the name 5|Quarter, which was inspired by one of the largest coal seams in the Great Northern Coalfield. We went on to develop a look and feel that was inspired by imagery found in coal mining reference books of the era.

5|Quarter

I was delighted with Twentyseven’s approach on this project, through research they quickly developed a name that is quirky and eye catching on first impression yet has real meaning on closer investigation - The 5|Quarter was the deepest coal seam in the area. Their attention to detail and understanding of our vision meant their graphics helped establish the overall tone for the 5|Quarter, we are delighted with the results.
